Happy Friday!
After breakfast we finally spied a chance to plant our tomatoes. We cut holes in the top of the grow bags and dug holes in the compost. We could then plant the tomatoes and water them in. We also put a cane next to each plant and tied them loosely to the cane so they have support as they (hopefully) grow big and tall. Unfortunately we couldn't plant our seeds in our new trays as the ran came.
I did my end of topic Maths lesson with Mr Barton. I can do long multiplication confidently now and could do the final tasks. I am looking forward to a new topic next week.
Every day this week English lessons have been about balanced arguments and today I had to write my own. As I have been keeping a food diary and looking at healthy diets I thought I would write the argument about free school meals. My mum and I looked at Marcus Rashford's letter and looked at a news interview and I made notes for and against. This was hard because I had lots of evidence to support Marcus Rashford and only some points against. I agreed with Marcus Rashford and the government's decision so I had to be careful not to write in first person and give my opinion!
I then went through a presentation with mum on different cooking methods. I then made notes and found some pictures. Here is what I did:
We then made a chocolate fudge cake! It is still in the oven so I will update my post later!
The cake is finished! To make the frosting we had to melt the chocolate in the microwave to mix with the icing sugar, butter, cocoa powder and milk. The sponge cake batter was made with flour, cocoa, sugar, eggs, milk, golden syrup and oil. It was then baked in the oven. I don't like chocolate but I am looking forward to tasting this!
The planting looks good and hopefully they'll get some sunshine soon. Hope the chocolate fudge cake is a success. Save me some.
