Friday 5th July 2020

It's Friday!  I was up at 5am this morning.  There was a wood pigeon right outside my window making a right din!

First lesson was Music. I learned the difference between PULSE and RHYTHM and played clapping and singing games.  I like the music she played which we had to clap along to.

I then did Mr Barton's Maths lesson which was on subtracting decimals. I had to try and use different mental strategies first before working out the answers on paper.

The last lesson of the morning was ENGLISH.  I had to write an alternative version of Little Red Riding Hood.  I hate to remember the following:
  • Vocabulary - use a range of words instead of just 'he said'.
  • Direct Speech - remembering to punctuate speech correctly.
  • Exclamation marks and question marks
  • Adjectives
I then planned the 4 stages of the story.  I was making Red Riding Hood the villain and the wolf the hero:
  1. Meeting the wolf on the the way to Grandma's house.  She is rude and horrible
  2. Arriving at the house - she's keeping Grandma hostage.  She and the woodsman plan to kill Grandma and steel her money and house for themselves.
  3. Conversation with the wolf - wolf overhears this and kills the woodsman and returns dressed up as him.
  4. The end - The wolf kills the Red Riding Hood and lives with Grandma.  She feeds him and looks after him and he protects her.
Here is my finished story:

After lunch I completed a couple of geography lessons. Here are the links.

The last lesson of the day was ART.  This is what we did today:

I really like the Van Gogh drawings and how the lines created textures.  I only had a regular pencil so I couldn't use different ones to help with my textures.  I did hold the pencil in different ways and experimented with pressing down and rubbing to give different effects.  Me and my mum then had a chat about when a  texture and technique could be used.  Here is is what I created:

  1. Oh Seren, your version of Little Red Riding Hood didn't half make me and Grandad chuckle. It shows what a vivid imagination you have although it was rather gruesome. Having said that the original version is rather gruesome too I suppose. But what a good idea to make Red Riding Hood the baddie and the wolf the goodie.
