I started the day with an experiment to investigate the effects of coke, vinegar and water on egg shells. This is part of my topic on TEETH. Here is the video!
I intend to take a photo of the egg shells everyday so I can if there are any changes. I could already see that the eggs shells in vinegar had lots of bubbles and a froth has been created. The cling film was even bulging! I think this means there is a chemical reaction because the vinegar is dissolving the shells and producing gas. You can see this on the picture.
I then did the Oak National lessons. First was Maths - no Mr Barton!!! It was a new topic on shapes and a new teacher too. She went through different shapes and the key words we should use to describe them.
We also started a new topic in English - biographies. I read a biography about Frida Kahlo. I like this artist and I have a big picture of her on my wall in my bedroom. I then answered the comprehension questions.
I then did a lesson on sustainability. I learned about why electric cars are more sustainable than petrol cars and why paper bags are more sustainable than plastic bags. I was very shocked to learn that a huge amount of plastic is polluting the seas and oceans it is the same as a garbage truck load of plastic being dumped into the ocean every minute!
When I had finished my Oak National lessons I did some research into teeth: how many we have, types of teeth, I coloured a diagram and added labels to show the parts of a tooth and I also made a model of a tooth. Here is my work:
For the final lesson of the day I did ART. I was introduced to the artist Henri Matisse and collage. After I learned about him I made my own free shapes and made different pictures. Here is what I made:
Another very interesting experiment Seren. Can't wait to see what happens.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I love your art work.
