Wednesday 10th June

The first thing I did this morning was a Maths SATS Paper. There were some things that I have not learned before such as dividing and multiplying fractions and percentages so I couldn't do those questions.  Mum said we can do some extra work on those topics.  I still got 28/40 so I am pleased with that.

I then did the English lesson and I had to identify the 4 key features from a non chronological report.  This was a report on griffins.  The 4 features I had to sport were:

  1. Modal Verbs
  2. Relative Clauses
  3. Facts and statistics
  4. Expanded know phrases
I then did the Science lesson.  It was the first lesson of a new topic on Electricity.  The focus of today's lesson was static electricity.  This is what I learned about.

I liked Miss Simkin's experiments with the balloon.  Unfortunately we didn't have any balloons so I could show you.

She rubbed the balloon on her head to charge the balloon.  This then created an unbalance in the charge so the balloon would attract pieces of paper, stick to a wall and repel another balloon.

Miss Simkin then explained how lightning is a build up of static electricity caused by the particles in the clouds rubbing together..  The build up is discharged by the lightning strike.

The nexr lesson I did was Maths and this was helpful.  I had to multiply decimals. I had to repeat the sentences so I learned the rule.  This did help and I got all of the questions right.

Mr Atkinson set us to do some history on the Battle of Hastings.  This was a good lesson becasue I learned about 3 men who said they had a claim to the throne after Edward the Confessor died.  Edward was very religious and took a vow of chastity so he didn't leave a successor.  The 3 men who thought they should be king were:
  • Harold Godwinson
  • William of Normandy
  • Harald Hardrada
I then learned about the Battle and I had to put the events in the right order.

The final lesson of the day was ART.  Today I did a circle challenge.  I had to find lots of circles to draw around. I then had to turn these into objects.  This is my finished picture:
